  • Rochester: 'Sit!'

    Pilot *does a canine squat*

    Rochester: 'Not you, Pilot!'

    LOL...

The way Rochester talks all rough and imperious just shows how fond he is of Jane :-) Does anyone notice how he lowers his eyes and goes all shy when he demands her to play the piano? :-) Such details are hard to notice in the book and depend on the improvisation of the actor. Go Toby! :-))

  • *Jane plays happy tune*

    *Rochester looks pissed off*

    "Stop bursting my emo bubble!"

  • I Love Mr.Rochester =)

  • *awkward silence between nervous people who fancy each other*

    R: "...so anyway...TALK!!"

  • Chill bumps!

  • "oh mercy mercy mercy" - i like french

  • @quiltcocoon I also picture Toby when reading the book. "He had great, dark eyes, and very fine eyes, too - not without a certain change in their very eyes change depths sometimes, which, if it was not softness, reminded you at least of that feeling."

  • Also. Heh. 9:49.

  • When I first saw a clip of Toby Stephens playing Rochester, I sort of objected, because Bronte describes Rochester as very compact, athletic, and dark-complected (well, for an Englishman) - Celine Varens even called him a gnome. Toby is pretty fair, quite tall, and not especially athletic-looking. HOWEVER he is a brilliant actor, and having seen several versions, his Edward Rochester is the one I now picture while reading the book. Thanks be to Toby for bringing my literary love to life!

  • Hmmm...can't decide if I like Toby Stephens' or Michael Fassbender's interpretation of Rochester more....I'm leaning towards Fassbender at this point, but I'll let Toby convince me more :D

  • toby is too cool to play mr rochester

  • GOD! Toby Stephens is really handsome!
