@mizzoulibertarian The actual word used by early muslims to describe a non muslim is the arabic word 'kafir'. The word is translated usually translated as infidel; however, it really means a person who refuses to become a muslim. The word can describe the most civilized person in the word. It has no insults attached to it. The word 'barbaric', on the other hand, has all sorts of bad annotations.
In 1081, El Cid, now a mercenary, offered his services to the Moorish king of the northeast Al-Andalus city of Zaragoza, Yusuf al-Mu'taman ibn Hud, and served both him and his successor, Al-Mustain II. O'Callaghan writes.
@len1414 this documentary is a sum of nonsense and falsificacions
Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar fought for the king of Zaragoza, himself vassal of Castilla.
When the almoravids came ,the taîfa's kingdoms were destroyed and the beginning of the worst islamic integrism = expulsion and massive murder of cristians and jew
I wonder if western Europeans and North Americans will ever portray other humans as humans. Whenever there is a war between a nation in western Europe and a nation from Africa or any part of the world, the latter is always depicted as barbaric, while the first is depicted as civilized. Even when Europeans are the ones who are invading and committing war crimes, historians and media people still insist on portraying the first as angels. I wonder how Europeans consider themselves as open-minded!
British documentary? Come on,are you gonna believe to the brithis historiacans?
El bueno arrived from north spain, like a lot of "spanish" people,ho is more spanish? the one ho was visigothich? or roman? or celtic? or what?...Guzman el bueno was spanish, like averroes or like el Cid or like another ones ho arrived from different part of the world.......
The idea that El Cid and El Bueno were the legendary Crusading heroes of Spain is only a myth. They were just mercenaries and fought for whoever paid them. El Bueno wasn't even Spanish. He was a Muslim and came from northern Africa. Did you know the name El Cid derives from Arabic meaning "My Lord" or "My Master". There is an excellent British documentary on YouTube, called "When the Moors Ruled in Europe".
@bobbydigital20g That's actually a pretty funny and on the mark analogy.

El Cid was a Spaniard with tough balls. That's enough.
Go with your stinking Woody-Allen-like philosophy to the horsedung pile you emerged from.
