Well, denver lap is an interesting stuff, thanks! Was there any restrictions on the number of gear ration configurations in ChampCar (like in Formula Renault 2.0)? Cos the car definitely starts overreving on the straits...
considering how reliable those engines are i very much doubt that/ if you watch a lap from paul tracy from denver in 2006 (it was a qualifying lap for the record) you hear him all over the rev limiter so i would be very surprised if he wasn't trying to save fuel.
hi's not saving fuel, he pushes off the throttle a bit to escape overreving on the light car. It seems like his gear ratios were ok for the heavy car with full tanks.

you could hear him saving fuel into turn 1 and 3. good post RaikkonenFan1992 keep them coming.
