Somedays (Written by Regina Spektor)

This song got stuck in my head about a month ago and I'm just now getting around to it. I didn't realize until afterwards how far I'd taken the tempo down. I'm still deciding how I feel about that. Opted not to do the Regina "brrr" at the end, because, well, I don't feel like I can pull that off. But it's a lovely song and a real joy to sing.

i liked the tempo! i thought it worked really well. this was an awesome cover. such a gorgeous song.

Matthew, I sure wish you'd make a CD. I don't think I'm alone in wishing for that. I would indeed buy it, whether it was cover songs or originals. Do you write any of your own music and if not....why? You're so obviously gifted. Your voice soothes my soul. Listening to you is like a high for me. So many of your covers I actually like far more than the originals. Very few artists can pull that off.

"Somedays" is my favourite song; this is an amazing cover. The tempo was jarring at first, but that makes it moodier than the original. Kind of... unnerving. I love it.

Personally, I think this is ridiculous. I mean it really is a great song (the original), but seriously, this downtempo, quiet, overly emotional whispering just kills it. And of course, the unavoidable, painful expression... No, this song is tragic in a much more complex way.. singing it slow and painful just takes away its whole charm. Just an honest opinion.
