so, V is the tribute to the first ever successful supersonic rocket done by mankind, nazi it was, but you have what you have. I do not know, if Russians incorporated this symbol because of that letter, I doubt it, it looks like a logo representing a rocket to me, or the Sputnik - the first Russian and human made satellite, so that shall be the case here. just research V-1 bomb, well it was not supersonic, but close to it.

look, I am just a girl, I do not work for space programs or anything, but I know history, and history says that american space program and missile construction was done by captured nazis scientists, therefore V stands for german letter, which pronounced as Fau, and it was the name of a first german nazi supersonic missile, which germans was able to test before they were kicked in their ass by Russians, and was happy to surrender to american forces just not to be shot in the face as they deserve
