Cycleball was an obscure European sport, but America's National Tour, the Coors Classic's promoters thought everything about it should appeal to American tastes. During the 1984 Classic, World Champions in Cycleball and Artistic cycling were brought over for a US premiere exhibition and as predicted, the audience gathered at the University of Colorado absolutely loved it! The film camera rolling on the side is Warner Bros shooting "American Flyers" with Kevin Costner. Highlights video courtesy Michael Aisner.

  • Shoot, I’ve seen this about 66 times… This is my son Teo’s favorite video of all time and he has watched it regularly since he was 2-1/2 (we have the Coors DVD set which he loves in general as do I) He is now almost five and still seems to find it. We tried playing on grass this summer until we were black and blue. I remember seeing this in person and it was over the top! Do they still play it?

  • Das ist Nostalgie vom feinsten

  • Ein absoluter Klassiker!

  • I'm very happy, really happy that I can see Pospisil's cycle-ball again.

Their play was very quick and tough, when I saw games of them at the world championships in 1977 and 1980.

    Thank you.

  • And I don't even like track standing! Wouldn't want to play, but would love to watch live!!!

  • @MichaelAisner It appears that they do indeed still play it. Look up the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale).

  • wish my bike was called Direct Drive instead of Fixed Gear

  • I was a CU student working at the Events Center during this event. It was one of the most unique events we ever hosted. Being in the same building with Eddy Merckx was my buzz.

  • great stuff. reminds me of the worlds in holland in 1980, the first time i saw the sport. the worlds are in stuttgart this year- good excuse to drive up and take the kids. thanks for the memories.
