Interesting news report highlighting the cultural problems of closed communities within the UK which prevents the police doing their work and presents a danger to the public.

In this case the Chinese community are suspected of hiding a Chinese murderer who murdered a husband and wife and their two children.

Interesting point raised in this report, some of the Chinese people gave the reason why they wouldn't co-operate with police door to door inquiries as being because they were worried their immigration status would be checked. Interesting.

So that presumably means they shouldn't be in the country and are illegal immigrants? Surely anyone is a genuine immigrant would have no problem giving their details so the police can run a quick check?

Some other Chinese businesses said they wouldn't put police wanted posters in their store windows because it was considered "bad luck". Yeah right. More like they prefer to look after their own regardless of what crime they've committed.

Certainly provides some insight into these "closed communities".

  • Too much of anything is not good so does freedom and rights

  • @Muralidharan001 Agreed.

  • Things like this happen in the states as well. The Chinese tend to keep to themselves wherever they go, so I can see why it was so hard for the police to investigate these crimes. Not only that but shedding light on all the illegals in their areas would open up a can of worms that would never be closed. It's a shame western countries tolerate this nonsense. It doesn't do the country any good and is equally harmful to the legal immigrant residents

  • @Xenda Well said.. I think it comes down to poor governance nation and local. Good border control and immigration policy is only side of the coin...the other side is making people integrate into society. Allowing people of one ethnic minority to consolidate together in parts of the country and effectively create their own sub-society is definitely not good. Local governments should ensure this never happens and spread people out, there should be quotas for each area.

  • I'm chinese and I'm quite pissed off with this, I like to think I've done a good job with integrating with other races so to speak and most of my friends are white but I recognise that chinese people particularly in london do have a tedency to stick together and just form their own social groups based purely on race. Which always perplexes me, consdering that if a country is nice enough to welcome you into their arms, the least you can do is do your best to get along with the inhabitants there.
