  • It was 1961 the first time I played a cut from this album ("alblum" in Dave talk) on KAMP in el Centro California.

  • I used this routine in a high school talent contest-and WON!!

  • Why is it black people can talk black stuff, but the white can't....both black and white people loved him...and his dialect was not that insulting...he was an amazing comedian and so was Redd Foxx, but he used such foul language; Brother Dave was clean....

  • @AmericanPowerBase So true. Amazingly, a white comedian is very popular now doing a black woman character (complete with black face and in drag) called "Shirley Q. Liquor" -- she / he is on You Tube.

  • Great stuff!! I'm 47 and remember this from when I was a kid. My dad had the album and I listened all the time. Thanks a million for posting, brings back good memories!

  • My mom had these and I used to spend the summer listening to them--I have asked her to leave this too me when she passes on.

  • @tallpaul521

Brother Dave led me to Bill Cosby... white guy talks black... black guy talks white... I kinda figured that some "race riots" where on the way... and we did not disappoint!

These guys were trying to keep us from fighting... and knew it had come a time.

God bless Brother Dave and The Coz!!!

  • THE James Lewis was a teacher at Sam Rayburn High School and San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas.

  • I heard this shit when i was a little kid it activated my imagination and cracked me up at the same time, still cracks me up. RIP brother dave

  • PS -- the NAACP forced Brother Dave to cut the black dialects..that was the start of the end for him. Ironically, many black comedians, including Red Foxx, loved Brother Dave.
