Fire Theatre - Spectacle Dance Theatre
Several genres meet in this production:
Contemporary juggling techniques, contemporary dance elements combined with flamenco steps, movement and behaviour, combined with contemporary music, lighting effects, set and costume design.
The main spectacle is the FIRE itself. Everyone has strong feelings about fire, e.g. most of us seem to be attracted by candles, fireplaces, campfires. There is something mystical in fire: the colour, the smell it exudes, and its duality...
Anidou Fire Theatre speaks a different language from all other theatre: telling the story of Don Juan trough dance and movement choreography incorporating burning equipment such as fire swords, fire fans, fire wings and fire shawls, all of these amidst the oil lamp-lit minimal set, designed to be in harmony with nature.
The atmosphere of this theatre is created by well-practised movements and juggling routine, well-developed costumes and set and carefully composed music for each of the scenes. Vision has a powerful part to play, just as in the world of dance.
Don Juan's legend comes alive trough the enchanted fire which speaks its own language of symbolism.
In this dynamic and visually very effective art form, the harmony of rhythm and motion work together to create an atmosphere to fascinate and spellbind the spectator.
The performance is most effective in absolute darkness, or alternatively, in mild, coloured light.
