Peter Cantu, a Houston gang member, was executed for the murders of Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Pena on August 17, 2010.

@25saltyb Thank you for your comment. I believe Mr. Ertman is a real hero for speaking out for crime victim's rights. He was never afraid to speak up for the victims. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to thank him.

I don't feel bad for Cantu's family. His mother knew he was a bad kid but just threw up her hands. Cantu was the worst of the animals who tortured, raped and killed those two little girls. I'm glad he's dead.

@afzx960 I am pro death penalty and anti-crime and I fully agree with you on this. Justice must be certain, this means there is NO REASONABLE DOUBT in anyones mind. God forbid in our haste to punish the guilty we also scoop up the innocent. While it is lamentable we wait so long to carry out justice, I think it is a necessary feature of a civilized society to do so. Having said this, it is just that Cantu is dead along with O'Brien and Medellin.

@RightWingBashers Yes, sadly it does and that is why, although I favor the death penalty, I also favor allowing appeals and stays of execution even though many times they are abused. Great pains must be taken to ensure that we have the right person, have solid evidence and that there is NO REASONABLE DOUBT as to their guilt... as is the case with Cantu, Medellin and O'Brien who raped, tortured and then murdered these children.

@BalconesFalk You don't know the difference between killing and murder; I have a suspicion nobody in your family has ever been murdered. Murder is what they did to those two innocent little girls. Killing however is done to effect justice. You and your kind claim that the death penalty does not work, you are wrong; it works VERY well. Peter Cantu will not be able to rape, torture and then murder anyone else, neither will Medellin or O'Brien and the others we have rightly exterminated.
