Vladimir Issaev, Choreographer and Ballet Master proudly presents this first DVD of The Vaganova Ballet Academy, featuring an authentic Vaganova Class at the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg Russia.

Artistic Director, Mme. Altynay Asylmuratova, formerly prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Ballet (Kirov) introduces the class by highlighting the strong influence that Ballet Mistress Agrippina Vaganova produced in the Dance Method utilized by the greatest dancers in Ballet History.

The class is performed in the classroom where Agrippina Vaganova taught and Marius Petipa created his most magnificent ballets. This DVD is not interactive but rather a video stream with no chapters. It is subtitled and filmed in Russia in a documentary style. The only choreography created by Vaganova, a pas de deux for the ballet "Diana & Actaeon" is presented at the end of the film.

  • OMG

    bravo

  • Oh my goodness, it looks so pretty!! <3

  • @0:54 That ballerina in the front has some serious potential. Thats how all ballerinas should look :)

  • what s the is music at 0:48?

  • @7agplace7 definitely. also the balanchine method used today is also influenced by stanley williams who was a danish dancer. vaganova for me is ok but way too slow and i don't like ht way you have to have your hips in arabesque or that you can't straighten your back leg for turn preparation.

  • Vagonova is an Interesting method. But Balanchine I believe is better, Often times Girls will go on pointe around 12 in the BAlanchine method not 9 like the Vagonova method. It is also based on gracefulness over strength. But the hardest method is the Danish method.

  • This is different from the Balanchine method, In the Balanchine method girls go on pointe at aroun 12 not 9 and their arms are held at shoulder level when we train at the bar. Also It does not demand as much strength as gracefulness.

  • Lovely :D

  • @Lauri08 he was my teacher for about 3 years :'( i miss himi moved so i don't have him anymore..

  • he came to my old ballet school to choreograph a ballet, cool!
