I met a guy who taught me alot about breathing but his was about breathing deeeep and looong, i mean inhaling for a minute at a time... then exhaling for a minute at a time, then repeated, whilst doing other exercises such as boxing/sparring... what do you think/say about this kind of a breathing technique? Extended time consuming long deep inhales and exhales..

@Illuminated7 Both. But mostly NOSE and minimal MOUTH. The TECHNEEK is called COMPRESSION.
