Beautiful marimba solo using 3 sticks. I opted to use hard yarn (Vic Firth M10) for the two left hand sticks and hard rubber (Musser M22) for the right hand stick. I'm not too good at this yet; just started practicing using more than one stick on a hand, but it's much easier than I expected.

  • Haha the problem is that I still can't seem to find either of the scores in shops or library. Looks like I'll have to order them.

  • Do you think you could play using 4 hammers?

  • Umm... if I practice! XD

  • By now I've roughly gotten used to it... but with two sticks on right hand... somehow it's a lot easier with left hand for me, which is strange since my right hand is my main hand. I'll try to look for it, thanks.

  • well this piece is a 3 mallet piece so he didn't do anything wrong.... and how can 3 mess up your grip or make it harder to learn 4? it's just like 2 and 4 ... in one hand you're playing single and the other double... lol if one of his hands is learning dbl then i think he's a smart enough guy to make it happen on the other...

    just a thought....

  • If u used yarn mallets, it would sound so much better and beautiful

  • i keep noticing mistakes all the way through, but its just attention to detail in the music. but nicely saved.

  • I love this piece well done!!!

  • @Mario12874

    no you fail

this piece was meant to transition in to 4 mallets. it smooths out the kinks and tricks of 4 mallets. btw it'd be impossible to play with 2 and extremely dumb to play it with 4

  • @grtg1231

yeah for real it was great but you sped up a lot in some places and the first broken part is very fast.... it's only 66 bpm

  • I think it wouldn't sound so harsh if you used softer mallets. I'm hearing too much contact sound for my liking and it kind of ruins the beauty of the piece, IMHO.

  • It is written as a 3 mallet solo though... you have to play as written, and no it shouldn't mess up your grip... please explain to me HOW that would mess up your grip.

  • i think he used hard mallets cuz it's loud there and he won't be able to record it without the mallets.5 stars

  • awesome dude

  • beginning is too fast. you're missing out all the musical pauses. this is not an etude. why the rush?
