On July 21st 1798, soldiers of the new French Republic under the command of a young Napoleon Bonaparte defeated a Malmuk force of 21,000. Napoleon employed the divisional square formation and the superior Malmuk cavalry were negated.

Napoleon is said to have told his soldiers: "Forward! Remember that from those monuments yonder forty centuries look down upon you."

Fans of the Total War series will recognize two of the musical pieces used. "Duke of Death" and "The Battle of Tollan" are from the game Medieval II Total War(Another great Total War game). As usual the footage is from the game "Napoleon: Total War". This time it comes from the scenario battle "Battle of the Pyramids."

The other two pieces are from the era:
Marche unconnue de tambours

Marche de Cuirassiers
