California produces 80% of the world's almonds and the trees need 40 billion bees to pollinate the flowers. Brian and Alison went out there to have a look and report . This is their report for the Guardian Feb 2008.

  • How can an area support 70,000 hives?

The hives at the start of the video look like they are in a field with no plants or trees??

  • The hives you see in this video are empty 'dead' hives a result of Colony Collapse Disorder. The bees were going to be used for the almond pollination in the Californian Central Valley.

  • Ok,so they didn't last the winter?

    are you a beekeeper?

  • Yes I am a hobby beekeeper in London, UK. We have six colonies.

The colonies in the hive were moved from Dakota to California in November and they were found dead in January.

We were there researching a book we have now written called 'A World without Bees' published by Guardian Books.

  • Oops meant to say 'the colonies in the video' were moved from Dakota to California

  • WHEN THE BEES DISAPEAR, MANKIND WILL ONLY HAVE 4 YEARS TO LIVE- ALBERT EINSTEIN

  • New study proves EMR-CCD link!

It found a causal & replicatable effect: Putting mobile phones (GSM) at a bee hive, after half an hour of EMR exposure, the HF radiation causes the worker bees to start "worker piping", a high-frequency buzzing which signals to prepare for abandoning the hive -- the typical CCD behavior. After turning off the mobile phones, the bees stop piping within 3 minutes.

This peer-reviewed study will soon be published in Apidologie journal:

  • It is a crisis!

  • Reduction of diet quality causes susceptibility to CCD. Bees produce enzymes which go into honey resulting in anti-microbial properties. These enzymes are manufactured from the nutritive pollens they eat.. Collection of pollen monocultures and removal of honey results in dormant season CCD. When enzyme productivity is low (winter) bees are given poor food substitutes: the hive’s anti-microbial properties are compromised. Then you add clothianidin to the story! Not wise!

  • plz Look up G M food there you will fine dates that are co to the issue many peps
