This is a simple illustration explaining what energy deregulation is and how it works. It is intended to provide an educational framework to help you understand how energy deregulation introduces competition and creates a choice in choosing our electricity and natural gas providers. As states are deregulating, competition is being introduced and this creates savings for us as consumers. This short video explains how it works. • Say i purchase power from an laternate out of state company, then there is a storm and knocks down the connection to my house.....Who will fix it....Im sure the local monopoly will charge me 4 years worth of saving? what do you think?

  • @nurtasuts There are generally two charges on your local bill. One is for actual consumption, which is from your energy supplier. The second is for local delivery, which is from your local utility provider. The local utility is responsible for all delivery, so if a storm knocks down power lines, that is completely repaired and covered by the local utility without additional charge to you.

  • I have received some comments regarding the ability for companies to switch rates, change suppliers, or even be offshore. In reality, there are protections in place to ensure that consumers have control. After review and consideration of market pricing, many of my customers sign fixed-rate contracts that protects them from price fluctuations. Additionally, the contracts are only with approved suppliers that meet all stringent criteria. Energy is still distributed by the local utility.

  • Most of these new energy companies after deregulation are running various kinds of scams. Most common are MLM, variable-rate, bait-and-switch, binding contracts with termination fee, and many other.

    In short, stay away!

Some of the positive comments on this video are promotional blogging.

  • @VinnieCool13 You make some good points - there are a lot of companies out there that are preying upon an uneducated public! This is exactly why I posted this educational video!!!

My company focuses on negotiating with MULTIPLE providers to ensure that our clients get the very best pricing. We compare multiple quotes and are completely transparent with the process.

In short - Energy Deregulation Savings are completely legit, but use a brokering approach to ensure savings are maximized!

  • really, thats funny, I liked things alot better when Houston Lighting and Power (HL&P) was running pretty much everything in Texas, goddamn deregulation comes along and they break it up into 20 smaller companies like Oncor which sucks ass as a provider by the way and I know many others that also share that opinion, Just is not much better either. They are all money making crooks. At least the power was more reliable and steady when it was all being run under one umbrella and not all about money

  • @MrCryptica82 Thanks for your candid commentary. In reality, deregulation should not affect your local service at all. Reliability of both electricity and natural gas are not affected by deregulation - the same wires and pipes are used to distribute. Local billing may be impacted depending on local legislation, but for the large majority, implementing deregulation will leave the local service and distribution exactly the same and simply provide the consumer with lower rates.

  • How did deregulation fair in the case of Enron?

  • Sounds like opportunity for somone to make money out of it.

If it's under state control it could be done in such a way that it's non profit, and gives fair and predictable prices. Instead of deregulating it, pherhaps they should have checked out this idea first.

  • All flim-flam, under Clinton they got rid of the Glass-Steagal Act (put in after Great Drepression 1), what happened, biggest financial crisis ever, world wide.

Read, "Econimic Hitman", by John Perkins, about energy grids installed on countries, costing families for generations !!

Everything in politics is planned, nothing is by chance, "Pres Theodore Roosevelt"

  • @discountenergyplan the problem is, well greed, look to California energy crisis. This is all speculation, and will cause lay-offs, and cost you more because you will have to buy this or that to be free. And they to install a new electrical grid, costing families for generations !!!!

To be truly FREE AND INDEPENDENT, pray for Bloom Energy (energy servers installed on your home or business) to go national then worldwide. This is energy 24/7 PERIOD, off their dam grid.

  • What's fun is constantly switching varible plans month to month. I've done this for 6 months now and have never paid more than $0.05 per KWHR.

  • Learn how to cut & style hair for your friends and family. It's a great way to save money on expensive salon visits while learning a great new skill! And each video only costs $1!
