July 3rd, 2009 at the Jason Webley Elevanniversary Celebration at the Town Hall in Seattle, WA
I believe this may be the very first performance by Amanda of this new song where she didn't request people not to tape it. * Though shortly after I posted this back in July I was asked, most politely, to take it down by Amanda's people. Which I did. Now I see that she peformed it for Jonathan Ross and a live performance for the tour in England has been up for a couple of weeks (it's very good: find it here courtesy of DRAGBirmingham: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRok4ht144o ) I'm re-uploading it (Sept. 30).
In Seattle, it triggered a spontaneous standing ovation by the audience. Truly a wonderful thing to be there to experience in person
(*I'd heard it on June 25th at the Troubadour in West Hollywood where she'd made that request as she was still working on the song.)
Amanda was one of the several guests at this multi-artist event in Seattle celebrating the passing of exactly 11 years since Jason Webley first got family and friends together in a living room to do his first 'set'. It was a raucous, roudy, warm, inspirational, crazy, moving and funny three hours of entertainment. I drove 820 miles (each way) to see it and I wondered if I'd lost my mind when I finally headed up there on Thursday. But it turned out to be an event worth driving far further than that to catch. Wonderful stuff.
I hope to post some more of the performances in the near future.
[Tech Notes: The acoustics of this venue (a former Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist no less) are extremely live, and unfortunately that is somewhat further emphasised by the sonic limitations of my tinycam's microphone. Live, the sound was much richer, but it appeared that the event may have been recorded with professional equipment also, so hopefully at some point in the future there will be a taping of this song by Amanda that will truly do it justice. End of Tech Notes]
I heard this song is called the bed song, at least that's what some people call it and amanda had intro'd it as such at the cambridge, mass show....
