Donald Harrison is one of the most confident and convincing improvisers in jazz today. Harrison, a New Orleans' native and student of Ellis Marsalis, broke into the jazz scene as the frontline replacement for Branford Marsalis in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. As a graduate of Blakey's so-called, University of Jazz, saxophonist Harrison has created an amazing body of work. As a consummate composer, arranger and performer, Harrison's roots remain firmly in New Orleans. His music is both a nod to the founding fathers of jazz and a soaring connection to the future.
