Progress of Afghan Women (2002). Under the Taliban, a generation of Afghan women lived as second-class citizens hidden by burqas, forced out of school at age 8, and prohibited from working outside the home. Now, women's rights are a priority for the new democratic government. Aid from the U.S.-led coalition is helping women acquire skills to give them financial independence, attend classes, and participate in government as elected members of the Loya Jirga. In a matter of months, the women of Afghanistan have made vast leaps toward realizing their hopes and dreams. Creative Commons license: Public Domain

  • Womanbeater2 has a teeny weeny little pinky-sized winkie that all the girls laughed at. That's why he's an angry boy. It's all because of his teeny weenie winkie. And he's too weak to pick on men, so he's a girl-hitter. His daddy used to hit his mommy. His daddy hit him too. When no one's looking, he cries and wishes he has a real man.

  • WOMAN = EVIL Do not allow woman to have power in your county, she follows the way of SATAN. Pure evil, she kills her baby, she has hate and no respect for man. She will sleep with her husbands brother. She teaches her son so hate his father. She destroys her house and your home. She is the mother of sin. Do not allow woman power in your country. A woman goes against God...

  • @TSM8088 why is western feminism threatening to you? If you were born in their shoes would you not want the same respect given to men? Or would you be satisfied with being regarded as of less importance, value, worthiness? Be reasonable.

  • The absolute worst thing to do in Afghanistan would be to teach any concept of western feminist culture.

  • I think the expression isn't "A male dominated by tradition to treat women as equals" -- I think proper stated it's "to treat women as HUMANS."

A lot of sexist assholes jump to the assumption that women are trying to be like men, when they say that.

Their mental capacity isn't able to comprehend. So one needs to further specify.

It's not like women are asking for the acknowledgment of being THEIR LITERAL CREATORS. No. They just wish to be treated decently as human beings.

    Easy enough.

  • There can be no peace settlement if this sort of progress is threatened in any way. Like everyone, I want the war to end soon. But people who are calling for the Coalition forces to withdraw immediately should think very carefully of repeating history and not allowing the Taliban to shackle this country once again. International Coalition troops have sacrificed their lives for Afghan progress and domestic security. The Taliban by contrast regard women as little more than slaves.

  • "I've no problem cutting it off - even though it is part of my heritage"

    In other words:

    Your a non-entity!

    Good bye.

  • Ahh...

    The all-too-common troll.

  • Actually, paganism is all but extint in Europe (paganism among Europeans might be a reality in some U.S. shows).

But some elements of pre-christian cult still linger. New years eve is the foremost among the still living pagan rituals. Antoher one is "Yole"...I guess that the anglo-saxons say "Christmas" (according to the texts, Christ was not born during December, but it was a good place for him to be born if you wanted to convert pagans...)

  • No, I just smile at you!
