@mahamza86 : Not sure I understand your comment. The 1D MkIV can use every non-EFS lens made by Canon, including ALL "L" lenses. As far as a general-purpose zoom, the 16-35 f/2.8L and 24-70 f/2.8L are amazing pieces of glass and are the equivalent of 21-46mm and 31-91mm respectively. How much more general purpose do you need?

ofcourse bigger sensor means better video and photos.
But I find the 1.3x crop factor of the 1Dmk4 troubling as you will have no lens at all to be used as a general purpose zoom, where as in 7D ,which has 1.6x crop factor, has it's own lenses build specifically for it's sensor, which means it has more flexibility.
But in reality both these cameras have different leagues and uses, not to mention the huge gap of price between them
