Shihan Jeff Prather is one the founding fathers of Ninjutsu in America, and one of Grandmaster Massaaki Hatsumi's most senior instructors in the United States. He founded the Yamaneko Dojo in Tucson, Arizona in 1990. Shihan Prather has trained in Japanese budo since 1969, joined the Bujinkan in 1980 and became Hatsumi Soke's personal student in Noda, Japan in 1984. A U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame double inductee, he hosted two Tai Kai for Soke in Tucson in 1995 and 1999, and has received numerous gold medals and special awards from him. He still travels to Japan to train with Soke.

Shihan Prather's Yamaneko Dojo emphasizes good heart and effective, efficient technique without speed or strength. All licences and certificates come from Hatsumi Soke and the Hombu Dojo.
