These are clips from a couple maiden flights of my Dynam Sonic 185 with a GoPro Hero HD on-board (maiden for the GoPro, not the Sonic 185). It was pretty windy with some turbulence, so the video isn't the most stable. Attaching the camera to the plane was actually a very simple modification; just required 3 bolts, a few nuts and washers, a 1.25" PVC coupler, and a tripod mount. On the airplane, I just had to trim back a bit of the foam inside, drill two holes through the bottom, and drill another hole through the canopy.
The 185 seemed to handle the extra weight just fine, with little noticeable different flight characteristics. I recently switched from the stock 72MHZ radio and receiver to a OrangeRX & Spektrum DX6i receiver and transmitter, respectively, hence the extra trimming at the beginning. The biggest difference in flight I noticed was that it could barely fly level when inverted, and certainly couldn't fly "up". Maybe with a bit more speed or deflection, but I didn't want to test that so low to the ground...
I really like this setup and will surely continue to use it. But I'd really like something more stable, so in hindsight, a mid-wing foamie with a motor on the front might not be the best platform. Probably need something a bit more rigid and with a pusher setup (I'm looking your way, Nitroplanes' Projet RQ-11, if only you had aileron control). I'd also like something with really slow flight, so I might have to modify my Sky Surfer Paraplane knock-off, with a lot more power.
So anyway, thanks for watching!
hi, what was the FM 72 mhz stock system you had, and what range did you get out of it?

@thephantomsguest I'm not sure what you're asking about the radio... It was 72mHz, that's all I know. I swapped it out for a OrangeRX receiver not long after I bought the airplane.
I'm a pretty bad judge of distance, but it got high and far enough that I didn't want to go any further, at risk of losing its orientation.

Is this a good beginner glider?

@tjmady
Absolutely! This is actually my first non-micro, non-parkflyer airplane, and it was incredibly easy to learn. As a matter of fact, after learning aileron control on a Parkzone Ultra Micro P-51, the hardest part was getting used to how slowly the controls react on the 185, by comparison. The plane is great, and the relatively low price makes it that much better.
