La Leche League is a non-profit international organization that promotes mothers helping mothers to breastfeed. LLL was founded 50 years ago by 7 housewives from suburban Chicago.

I lllove La Leche League & the founding mothers! I have been involved w/ this org. since my 1st pregnancy in 1983 as a member & then as a Leader for 20 years. This is the best place to go for info & support. God Bless LLLI & thanks for posting this lovely video!

Almost 40 years ago LLL helped me reestablish milk after traumatic surgery and a week's separation from my baby. I went on to nurse my following two babies, and work as a LLL leader for 10 years more. Watching this video brought tears as I recalled meeting those wonderful founding women, who with local leaders, helped me nurture the most meaningful, joyous part of womanhood. LLL offers answers and support, allowing a woman to follow her particular path as best suits her life. Thank you LLLI!

Viola Lennon died on January 22, 2010, she was 86. Janurary 23, 2010.

Dearest Edwina, We will miss u so, what u have done for mothers & babies has been a gift from God. I feel as if I've lost my own mother.

But I know when u reached that Golden Shore & stood in the presence of Christ our Glorious & Almighty Lord & Savior that He looked into yr sweet face & said "Well done, my good & faithful servant."

Thank you so much for posting this beautiful and inspiring video! It is really wonderful to get to know these women better, and I truly feel like they have personally reached out to me. I was finally able to breastfeed my son (who has Down syndrome) after 2 months of pumping, and it never would have happened without the support of LLL.
