@justjohnny05 I am against it because the government is subsidizing them for no reason. Solar is not viable as a charging system both for cost and that the sun is not out at night, when most would be recharged. Gas will be with us for over 100 more years and CNG can be used as well. Oil sands in Alberta and Oil Shale in Colorado are each a Saudi Arabia of oil. We just have to stop being afraid to drill for it.

@Srd1126 I dont but not all cars are for everyone, but most people could use this car. Why are you so against it?? It is over 10 times more environmentally friendly than a gas car. And again you can recharge it from solar at home so it can run off sunlight you cant do that with a gas car. And when the gas is all gone???

@justjohnny05 Most Americans have at least a day a week where they drive much, much more than 40 miles. Even if you can charge in 15 mins who on earth wants to do that to go just 60 miles or so before the next charge? No matter how you slice it, 50% of this car is powered byt coal, making it a joke to say it is "envrionmentally friendly." Only an idiot would buy one.
-
@justjohnny05 Dirty as it is coal is cleaner than gas and it would take 10 times as much fuel to power a gas car as it does an electric. Also you can charge it at home off a solar powered grid if you have one.

@Srd1126 The average American driver only drives less than 40 miles a day. You can fast charge the car in 15 mins at a 440 charging station some of which can be solar only. Electric cars use 1/10 the energy of a gas car. And most electric utility companies get their power from many sources including wind, hydro and solar.

@emforty2 The Volt is a hybrid, its an all electrically powered hybrid charged by a small serial gas engine that charges the batteries and provides electricity to the motor a better system than the Prius which is a parallel hybrid. The Leaf is pure electric only.

8 hours to recharge a battery that will take you 100 miles in ideal conditions? And all so you can burn coal instead of gasoline? Why does Obama want 2 million of these things on our roads?
-
@Vanuatoo thats the first answer I've heard that makes any sense
