Welcome to my four-part guide to Neverwinter Nights (and general Dungeons & Dragons until we get to the prestige classes) character class basics! In this part, I'll be going over the combat-centric classes of Fighter, Barbarian, Paladin, and Ranger.

  • Is it worth going ranger for 1 level just for the favored enemy feat? And if so, what would be the smartest choice for favored enemy? I don't remember any place in particular that game me problems... Well, actually... The mindflayers. Don't remember if they're in the list.

  • Not really sure if it'd be all that much help. I typically don't play ranger all that much and am by no means an expert on this.

  • so nwn use the 3.5 dnd.

  • Actually it uses plain 3rd Edition. Troika's game Temple of Elemental Evil uses 3.5.

  • Rangers can have animal companions. You can select it once you reach I think level 2... don't remember that. :D And animal companions are way more useful in combat than familiars cause for animal companion you can chose stronger animals like bears, wolves or black panthers.

  • I thought so. It's been a while since I've played a ranger so I'm pretty rusty on them.

  • @Neoxym I'd say if you don't know what to pick, go with Human or Undead. They have wide variety of creatures, some are weak but there are strong enemies too.

But still, I'd go for Ranger mostly because of Dual Wield feats. Great syngergy for DEX focused characters like Rogues.

  • Mind control successful. +100XP

  • I go over the prestige classes in video 4.

  • Not regularly.

  • Nice video :) do you still play??
