Since we only have two arms and two legs, it isnt uncommon to see common tactics found within different martial art styles. For example, "Pak sau" is found in western boxing. And "Tzuann chuan" from xingyi is found in boxing as well (although used a bit differently). I truly think that the young and old, the modern and ancient come learn alot from eachother, because they both live in the present day.

Boxing- Footwork, head-movement, variety of punch angles, good defensive shell/body structure/keeping hands up, Hook punch, good conditioning exercises such as the "evaluation line drill". Lacks kicks, clinch game, takedown, and overall self-defense

XingYiQuan- Agressive/Explosive stepping (flat footed isnt good from the outside, but good on the inside), variety of punches including vertical and horizontal, palm slap/strike, eye poke, knee strikes, clinch tactics/grabs, elbow, takedowns, stomps. Lack complex footwork, no hook punch, limited defensive tactics, limited kicking tactics

Wing Chun- Speed, variety of parries, Chain punching, limited footwork (yet has some angling and agressive, a bit better than xingyi's footwork), variety of practical kicks, eye pokes, elbows/knees, pak sau, bong sau
Lacks- variety of punches, limited takedowns (besides sweeps), needs to modify guard, limited wrestling tactics/clinching

These are all just basic points. These 3 arts are wonderful. Hopefully I didnt offend anyone.

Have fun and experiment with your chosen art!

And remember, a martial art is more than just a fighting styles, its a way of live, and a character development tool as well. :)

LETS ALL LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHER

  • Bruce Lee was demonstrating this type of stuff 40 years ago. Good to see that people are still discovering it. I bet some of you didn't know that Muhammad Ali got one of his most devastating punches indirectly from Bruce? Ali was a student of Jhoon Rhee and Jhoon taught him the correct usage of the vertical fist, which Jhoon had actually learned from Bruce. So that's the Bruce Lee - Muhammad Ali connection. You can probably google it but it's also detailed in Jhoon Rhee's book "Bruce Lee and I".

  • @Jank143 right on! Yeah, alot of people don't know that Muhammad Ali had a huge connection in the martial arts. Ali was actually awarded and honorary black belt. Bruce Lee wasn't perfect. I didnt agree with everything he said, but "absorb what is useful, and discard what is useless"...that changed the world. His analysis is like the comparison between religion. Martial arts are alot like religions. But, bruce was brave enough to say that they ALL had flaws. None were perfect. Thank you sir

  • I love your videos, dude. I found something I thought you might appreciate. YouTube "wing chun hook punch" by user "shifudan' for an interesting interpretation. I believe he combines the elbow in the 3rd empty hand form with the stance turning to make a hook.

  • @AlHasashinBattousai will do. thanks.

  • I dont belive in Styles. I'm a free Fighter and use what I can practice.

  • @36predator Styles are good......"Initially". A style gives you a base and something to build off of. However, at the end of the day, and in the middle of a fight, its YOUR style that counts. So, even though I practice different styles, I make them "my own". I use the proven methods that work for me, that I have tested personally, and absorb it. Thanks for sharing your insight

  • After learning about xingyiquan I always was curious about it, but thanks to these vids breaking down its applications, I'm getting more and more interested in it.

  • Stick to boxing dude u got the martial arts all wrong anf whoever dont agree.with bruce lee u r all losers u cant say a legend dont knw wat hes talkin about wen all yu are is a rookie..for real

  • uneed to learn more moves from wing chun dude

  • i respect n e fighter who trains diligently but i feel u dont understand the principles of wing chun completely. A parry and attack r the same thing a "block" does not exist in wing chun only redicting positions. there is not only chain punches there is uppercuts, hooks/pheonix eye, darting fingers wich u said :) 8 different kicks and various attacks with n e part of the body u are taught to hit the target by any means and the easiest way not to get hit...DONT B THERE lol

  • Xingyi is not just moving forward, it's more like moving in a straight horizontal line. However, its movements feature circular motions as well because to attack from such a close proximity and using internal principles, one needs to coil in order to produce power.

Nice video! Informative, and clearly well informed. Keep it up my friend.
