to kick the bucket
=to die=死ぬ=shinu

Ex: He kicked the bucket.=彼は死んだ。

to kill=殺す, korosu

Ex: 彼は彼女を殺した。
　　Kare ha kanojo wo koroshita. He killed her.

to be killed=殺される,korosareru
Ex: 彼女は殺された。 Kanojo ha korosareta. She was killed.

I'd grow a beard and wrap a towel around my head. Maybe strap a huge bomb to my ass, if the doctor said I had cancer. Or saving someone else. I am and always will be a donor...don't know how much help that'd be if I strapped a bomb to my ass.

There is some disagreement whether "kick the bucket" comes from the slaughter of livestock or from Catholic funerary tradition. Either way, "kick the bucket" was always more death itself (and perhaps even murder) than it was about suicide.

It refers to suicide

because people used to stand on a bucket with a noose (rope) around their neck and then kick the bucket from under them... and yea you can guess.

At least that's what i heard.
