Vermont Railway locos #801 and #201 pass through Bellows Falls, Vermont as they begin another day of hauling freight. The Vermont Railway (reporting mark VTR) is a shortline railroad in Vermont and eastern New York, operating much of the former Rutland Railway. It is the main part of the Vermont Rail System (VRS), which also owns the Green Mountain, Clarendon and Pittsford, New York and Ogdensberg and Washington County railroads. These railroads are under common ownership but maintain their separate identities.

  • Who's line did they cross at the interlocking?

  • @beatleman69 One was the Vermont Rail System line and the other was the New England Central line.

  • I saw 801 at Lisbon, NY a few days ago, and I shot a great vid upcoming tomorrow! I hope you'll take it as a vid response.

  • @bundangbear Sure, send it and I will accept it!

  • @gaycowboy31 You may want to check out the "Trains Around Vermont" website to see the train schedules. The Bellows Falls to Chester run has been reduced to only one day a week in 2010.

  • @MrTraindude thanks ..thats cool I have to drive up to Chester Vt to pick up a railroad antique I bought and I plan to stop in Belows Falls Vt as well on my way down to Palmer Massachusetts where I pick another item up so it will be nice to see a differnt railroad for once all I see here in Texas whre I live is the UP and BNSF and KCS and if I drive to Dallas I see the shortline DGNO(Dallas Garland Northeastern)which occasionally has New England Central power on it so that will be nice to see

  • @gaycowboy31 The Vermont Railway is now a part of the VRS or Vermont Rail System but it still keeps its separate corporate identity with its red and white paint scheme and three-mountain logo.

  • thdoes the Vermont Rwy still run or did it get absorbed by another shortline group?
