City Safety does NOT work with pedestrians. Check with Volvo.

The satnav has a set of controls on the back of the steering wheel for the driver (see 3:37 to 4:05), the remote is for passangers.
Also, Volvo very clearly states that CitySafety is designed to detect and react to similar-size items, i.e. other cars, and not pedestrians or bicycles.
The XC60 may not have the more powerful V6 diesels of the Q5 or GLK, but it is substantially cheaper for similar equipment levels.
Very poor review. And cheer up, you're driving a fab car!
