TWO WEEKS Later??!! Sorry, but I have no idea where you could possibly have gotten that; it couldn't be more wrong. The flag raising shown in the photo, and the USMC monument in D.C, and this Video Clip occurred on 23 Feb,FOUR DAYS after the marines landed on Iwo Jima. There was one flag raising just hours earlier; smaller flag, and MARINES lowered it when the larger flag was raised, as depicted. I've never heard of ANY flag having been raised, then pulled down by the Japanese.

@FliegerOffizier ay bro its all good i mean i understand how you feel. And dont worry about it to much unfortunatly there are people out there who post stupid stuff and dont know what they are talkin about and i mean its good to have people like you who clear it up. I apologize for not really knowing what i said and causing all of this. I also appreciate this video you posted its really cool and motivating too

Sorry. I did get excessively emphatic in my earlier post. it is just that over the years since i first uploaded this video clip, I've seen too many ridiculous statements about the battle itself, and also about the movie.
I apologize and I have deleted my previous post.

@FliegerOffizier but John Bradley's son said his dad was involved in the movie along with Ira hayes there is even a picture

I've repeatedly pointed out that the real flag-raisers were in one 2-3 second shot, at 1:40:53 in the full movie, available for viewing on youtube.... .
They were NOT involved in the movie's re-enactment of the raising of the flag
-
@FliegerOffizier yes they were read the book Flags of our Fathers and it will tell you and show you a picture of Ira Hayes and John Bradley with John Wayne on the set of the movie i think after or before the flag raising

Good movie. Both American and Japanese soldiers had courage but comments from cracked Yank and Nigger bring disgrace on honor of USMC.

One hell of a battle, considering this island was part of Japan and the Japs naturally wanted to fight to the death to protect their territory. However, the bravery of the USMC could never be doubted and as a Limey I respect this.
How the hell can this be the end of the movie? The flag raising happened on the fifth day, the battle went on for thirty more days.

@Theakker3
Rent the movie...better yet, buy it. Watch it. It is a drama (not documentary) about some Marines in WWII...it is not just about the single battle to take Iwo Jima.
