Neurergus kaiseri is a critically endangered newt native to Iran. It's listed under CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) appendix I, the most restrictive category in CITES, and international trade in N. kaiseri is prohibited unless a permit has been issued by a national licensing authority.
These specimens have been certified as being captive-bred by the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Wildlife Licensing and Registration Service, which means that they can be imported and exported for commercial purposes, however it's still necessary to apply for a permit and pay an administrative fee each time they're to be imported or exported.
Hey Pete - amazing looking creature. Thanks for the vid.
