As a long-time Mac user (since 1986), I was largely unaware of the NeXT system and had never seen this presentation.

Steve was a true futurist, and more often right than not. His vision that we would exchange videos as easily now as they did emails then demonstrates this fact. He also was focused on how people interact with computers The concert at the end was to open people's eyes. I think most people then saw this as a gimmick,but now we know better

Yes, the programming language Objective-C developed by NeXT, a synthesis of C, a procedural language, and SmallTalk a completely object oriented programming language, went on to be the foundation of Mac OSX and all Mac and iOS apps made in Xcode.
