  • @jasperhermano turns out the glo plugs weren't staying on for as long as they should. the unit which monitors the engine temp is maffunctioning. it's wrking fine now. thx

diesel engines are rated to run about 5mins from first start-up of the day without cooling and it will not damage the engine..

Try checking the battery power and the output of the starter..the disadvantage of diesel engines from petrol is that diesels need more battery power and stronger starters to be able to start them so any weakness from those two will make the engine harder to start.. It is also perfectly reasonable to check the battery because you said that it's harder to start when not in use for some time..Also, make sure to start the engine everyday because the oil might get so viscous sometimes..

diesel engines, when they start running doesn't even need the battery to continue running. Diesels have choke mechanisms that deprive the engine of air in order to shut it down..combustion (in a diesel engine) = air + fuel + compression (thus, diesel engines=compression ignited engines) cut one of them and the engine will no longer run..in this case, the easiest to cut and subsequently put back on when you need to start again is air.

  • how do u guys turn that off..i mean that one hasnt have any spark plugs..do u just lyk disconnect the battery from the fuel pump or what?
