The word "Hipster" in the 50's used to mean societal dropouts who rejected american consumer culture. Today Hipsters are not only active participants of american consumer culture, they are leaders of it. "Early adopters" and "trend centers" who are a valuable marketing segment. Quirky yuppies who indulge in all things "artisan". Who cares? The real question should be where are todays societal dropouts? I guarantee you they aren't scouring Ethiopia for the perfect coffee bean.
