Yes the Viet cong were unlawful combatants. Unlawful combatants are any combatants that go to war for personal profit; such as private security contractors or mercenaries such as Blackwater, or combatants that do not fight in a uniform such as the viet cong, and most other guerillas. The whole reason that the part about unlawful combatants was made so major nations would actually sign it. Who would sign a document that give the enemy forces an advantage?

I didn't mean we should execute and torture the combatants we capture in Iraq and Afghanistan we just have the right to according to the Geneva convention of course we shouldn't torture or execute enemy combatants but they are unlawful combatants and we have the right to do anything we want to them just like they can do anything they want to Blackwater and other private security contractors they capture. I'm not saying just because we can do it doesn't mean we should.
