Miniature Horse Trick Routine

A musical trick routine that I, Sarah Foltz, Arielle Sites and Lara Harnish put together to present to a class of students taking a field trip to Rocky Pine Acres. The horses you see featured are Thunder, the dark brown and very small horse, Silver, The light grey appaloosa with a white mane and tail, and Cachet, the dapple grey with a black mane and tail. The tricks the horses performed were all self taught.

Is there a specific age you like to start them at?

@nativepaint95 They're usually able to start at a year old, but they could probably be started earlier. I just like to give the first year to let them get to know you and trust you before you start any in depth training. Things usually go better that way.

i am going to start trying this out with my friend with our mini hokey pokey any tips?

@niftysugamisslover the biggest thing to remember is positive re-inforcement. The minis are almost like dogs and will work very well off of rewards. And they don't have to necesarily be treats, they can be other forms like pets or vocal praise. Also repetition is key, but don't sour them on anything. Only do a little each day and the training will be more effective and they will be more willing to do it! Let me know if you have any specific questions and good luck (:
