Radio Station UVB-76 (The Buzzer)

A Russian Number Station which broadcasts a single buzzing, monotonous, note 25 times a minute every hour. One minute before the hour the tones changes to the manner it does in this clip. It's been broadcasting since about 1987 and has only been interrupted on a couple of occasions when it aired garbled, distorted, coded messages and then resumed broadcasting the buzz.

The picture is a satellite photo of its station.

@gocanadayayyy It's run by the Russians, presumably by the military.

The Lithuanian ministry for communication said it was to ensure radio operators were alert, and for other testing purposes.

You'd think the thing would run out of power to broadcast eventually, of that at least they could find where it was by trying to figure out where it's getting power from...

But good god, that's creepy.

And if they have found where it's supposedly being broadcast from, why hasn't it been turned off?
