This tough and gritty book is straight from the trenches of the war over the Pentecostal phenomenon of Speaking in Tongues today. Too often we perceive the heat from sensitive questions as fire from hell, when actually the heat is 'friction' from truth rubbing past an unyielding spirit. The Pentecostal mindset at best is to have pity on those not 'Filled with the Spirit', or statements like, "It's their loss". I can't say I've ever heard a Pentecostal say it was a loss to the Body of Christ, or the ministry of Holy Spirit. Many claim ecstatic experiences, near death experiences or other religious and unusual phenomenon such as an awareness of a presence, spiritual visions, unusual vocalizations, etc. But stimulating the temporal lobe regions of the human brain with mild magnetic current can artificially induce many of those phenomena. The atheist Michael Persinger has produced some fascinating research with his so-called "God Helmet". The results of several brain scan studies concluded Speaking in Tongues did not involve the speech areas of the brain. The precise area affected was unclear in its purpose, but I believe the act of Speaking in Tongues, privately in particular, reflects a pliable mental state similar to deep meditation. The repetitive sounds certainly resemble the practice of chanting, but seem more deliberate. Regardless of its veracity, Speaking in Tongues is perceived by many outside Pentecostal circles as an object receiving excessive attention, possibly qualifying as an icon of idolatry as others outside Orthodoxy consider images of Mary and saints as such. Though considered irrelevant by many, sacrilegious by others, the audio qualities of Speaking in Tongues have been evaluated in modern times from a scientific perspective. It is apparent to me Speaking in Tongues in general is best understood as 'stimulus' such as a kitten kneading (massaging) its mother's breast to encourage milk production. That is to say expressions of Speaking in Tongues are submissive postures before God, stimulating the grace of God to actively fall.

I have witnessed the mentally ill Speak in Tongues, as a frightening manifestation of demonic activity, while the same person, and same audible sounds, while under the Anointing of the Holy Spirit, spoke praises to God.

It's alright bro, as long as you're not hurting anyone. What's more ridiculous is people fighting over it and saying "it's demonic!!". As if God is absolutely full of shenanigans, hoping to trick his people in any way possible..

I am not aware of any hidden or implied meaning to "Perfect Gentleman". All I meant to say is that the behavior of what many consider, "Nut Jobs" (I somewhat agree), is that emotion is branded as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. People behave bizarrely, not the Holy Spirit. My observation has been that besides human emotion there is a strong Evil Spirit factor in what normal people consider bizarre (Whatever Normal is).

@N1k1mon One must acknowledge many things in the Bible which to our natural mind are consider Bizarre and many believe are manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Isaiah ran around naked for a time to prove his point. Many consider it his human weaknesses, others his allowing the Holy Spirit to manifest through him. In either case that, and many other things are VERY unusual. Sampson, Elisha and the young lads, John the Baptist, etc.

I speak in tongues, enjoy it also, the bible says that they that speak in tongues speak not to men but to God, thou there is a speakingin tongues in the public church services thou there is supose to be an person that wll give out a messege by the Holy Spirit, there is nothing wrong with tongues, people make mistakes and some are decievers, but the reason for tongues is to speak a prayer language to God, praying in tongues is praying mysterys, God's mysterys, so cool

i love praying in tongues.... when every i pray in tongues... i feel my spirit speaking threw my moulth... its awsome....when ever i start praying for people the tongue just comes out of my moulth and i get filled more in the ghost that my hairs stand up from my head to my toe... sometimes i feel like i am going to fall.... and i read the bible on tongues and it says that if it is an unknown tongue.. it is okay to speak it but...

Tongues is a beautiful loving gift we can take or leave. Jesus said babies speak perfect praise. That's good enough for me. Science can say what ever it wants, I choice to commune and say what the spirit says to the Holy Spirit inside me. Blessing beloved family of Papa!

I received tongues. I'm quiet mostly_ I don't shout of force it on anyone. I have been told my tongues sounds like a language. It's not for showing off---I use it mostly privately--- and pray with someone--in tongues if they want. I had a time after being nera death & regaining health--I had some "supernatural experiences"-speaking Spanish & french-but I heard myself talking to them in English! I had to be told I had been chatting and praying with one Spanish woman for half/an hr! I can't

i dont get into these philosophical discussions about tongues,trying to work everything out,i know im saved through Jesus,i have the Holy Spirit living in me,and thats all..simple..I like tongues and love worshipping God i wana go deeper in His presence and anointing,and i make mistakes alot of them,but i know Jesus is with me through the good times and the bad..bless..

I speak in tongues, but I did not learn it...it is a gift God has given me...it comes when I am in worship or deep meditation....even after receiving Holy Communion..if people say that it is demonic, you make the Bible a lie...cause the only visible and audible proof of the Holy Spirit on the Pentecost Sunday was Speaking in Tongues. I agree gift of tongues is meant for prayer, prayer, prayer. Not to be misused as finger pointing or for selfish reasons. Hate when people call the gifts of the Holy Sprirt of the devil. Why would the enemy give you a prayer language? Think about it.
