This is only his third trial with the barrier obstructing the high-reward arm. The rats learn this procedure very quickly and have had about six days of arm/reward contingency training with approximately 8 trials per day. The barrier is about 16cm and the next stage of training will involve increasing the barrier height to 30cm.
