Danny discusses what Reconciliation is and is not, walking through the history of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and how it has evolved. Also covered are such basics as how to go to confession, what is a mortal vs. a venial sin, sins of ommission and commission, forgiveness, and how it is rooted in God's love for us.

Penance was meant not so much as punishment for sin, but as a discipline to transform the heart and mind towards Christ. Formal absolution wasn't always part of the equation....but could follow afterwards.

So was a person after vconfession immediatelty forgiveness but they had to be punished?
