@jayhayes2007 More than likely the corpse was one of these creatures, which is likely why he called him Ghoul, and the ghoul came back as a skeletal canine man thing beast.

I'm just trying to figure out the connection between the invisible hound and the corpse in the coffin. Is the hound the spirit of the corpse or a completely different entity and if so why is it that the corpse later has alien skin and hair? thanks in advanced.

@MrTransgression If you've read Pickman's Model, Lovecraft describes a race of actual canine-like ghoul/humanoid creatures, which a man called Pickman knew of and drawn on regular occasion. Maybe, the skeleton in the coffin is related to that somehow? Otherwise I honestly couldn't tell you!
