ਜਲ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਿ ਪਵਨ ਕਾ ਥੰਭਾ ਰਕਤ ਬੁੰਦ ਕਾ ਗਾਰਾ

जल की भीति पवन का थ्मभा रकत बुंद का गारा

Jal kī bẖīṯ pavan kā thambẖā rakaṯ bunḏ kā gārā.
The body is like a buildiing (of water) supported by the pillar (of air), joined by cement of embryonic inter-cellular material of reproduction process of male and female cells.

ਦੇਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਥਮਲੇ ਨੇ ਥੰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲਹੂ ਤੇ ਵੀਰਜ ਇਸ ਤਾ ਮਸਾਲਾ ਹਨ।




ਹਾਡ ਮਾਸ ਨਾੜੀ ਕੋ ਪਿੰਜਰੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਬਸੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ
हाड मास नाड़ीं को पिंजरु पंखी बसै बिचारा
Hād mās nāṛīʼn ko pinjar pankẖī basai bicẖārā.

The human body is a structure of bones, flesh and veins: within it abides the poor soul bird.

ਹੱਡੀਆਂ, ਗੋਸ਼ਤ ਅਤੇ ਨਾੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਰੀਬ ਆਤਮਾ ਪੰਛੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।




ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਤੇਰਾ

प्रानी किआ मेरा किआ तेरा ॥
Parānī ki­ā mėrā ki­ā ṯėrā.

O mortal, what is mine and what is thine?

ਹੇ ਫਾਨੀ ਬੰਦੇ! ਕੀ ਮੈਂਡਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਤੈਂਡਾਂ?




ਜੈਸੇ ਤਰਵਰ ਪੰਖਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ
जैसे तरवर पंखि बसेरा
Jaisė ṯarvar pankẖ basėrā.

As birds pearch on a tree, so does the soul in the body.

ਪੰਛੀ ਦੇ ਬਿਰਛ ਉਤੇ ਆ ਟਿਕਣ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਹੈ।




ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕੰਧ ਉਸਾਰਹੁ ਨੀਵਾਂ
राखहु कंध उसारहु नीवां
Rākẖo kanḏẖ usārahu nīvāʼn.

Thou layest foundations and buildest walls.

ਤੂੰ ਬੁਨਿਆਦਾਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੀਵਾਰਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।




ਸਾਢੇ ਤੀਨਿ ਹਾਥ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੀਵਾਂ

साढे तीनि हाथ तेरी सीवां
Sādẖė ṯīn hāth ṯėrī sīvāʼn.

Three and a half cubit measure of place is the land you need for yourself in the end.

ਅਖੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਾਢੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੱਥ ਮਿਣਤੀ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ।




ਬੰਕੇ ਬਾਲ ਪਾਗ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੇਰੀ

बंके बाल पाग सिरि डेरी
Bankė bāl pāg sir dėrī.

Thou beautifully dressest thy hair and wearest slanting turban on thy head.

ਤੂੰ ਸੁਹਣੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੀਸ ਤੇ ਟੇਢੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸਜਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।




ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਭਸਮ ਕੀ ਢੇਰੀ

इहु तनु होइगो भसम की ढेरी
Ih ṯan ho­igo bẖasam kī dẖėrī.
But this body shall be reduced to a heap of ashes.

ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਆਹ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਅੰਬਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਊਗਾ।

ਊਚੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਾਰੀ

ऊचे मंदर सुंदर नारी
Ūcẖė manḏar sunḏar nārī.

Lofty, are Thine palaces, and beauteous Thine brides,

ਉਚੇ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਹਣੀਆਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਪਤਨੀਆਂ,




ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ

राम नाम बिनु बाजी हारी
Rām nām bin bājī hārī.

but without the Waheguru ji's Name, the game is lost.

ਪਰ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਖੇਡ ਹਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।




ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਕਮੀਨੀ ਪਾਂਤਿ ਕਮੀਨੀ ਓਛਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ

मेरी जाति कमीनी पांति कमीनी ओछा जनमु हमारा
Mėrī jāṯ kamīnī pāʼnṯ kamīnī ocẖẖā janam hamārā.

My caste is low, my lineage is low and mean is my birth.

ਮੈਂਡੀ ਜਾਤੀ ਨੀਚ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਨੀਚ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅਧਮ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼।




ਤੁਮ ਸਰਨਾਗਤਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦ ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਚਮਾਰਾ

तुम सरनागति राजा राम चंद कहि रविदास चमारा
Ŧum sarnāgaṯ rājā rām cẖanḏ kahi Raviḏās cẖamārā.

I have entered Thy sanctuary, O my Waheguru ji, the King, says the cobbler, Ravi Dass.

ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਮੋਚੀ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
