Bollocks to the "P.C" mob!
Funny is funny!
That said it was of it's time but great stuff none the less!

I hated the 1970s. I was an unhappy closeted gay teenager growing up in south london. Gay Lib didn't come to Peckham! I hated it when these programmes/films were shown. But now I can laugh at them. I have been out & proud for years. Larry Grayson is a GIANT and I can laff at my sister's 1970s anti-gay jokes: such as "Have you heard the one about the two poofs in a haunted house putting the willies up each other!" (smile). THANK YOU for Camp Cuts. No offence taken. None whatsoever.

"That last sketch was first aired in 1970. Of course now, it is considered unacceptable to employ such crude sterotypes when depicting individuals based purely on their sexual preferences."

Homos are great fun

Cor blimey, that don't half take me back, lol.Anyone 'struggling' with their sexuality back in the 70s,well,I say struggling,I never had to lol,I always managed just fine. But for those who were, watching the likes of Dick Emery must've wondered whether they'd ever be able to be so 'free'! I'm not saying all homos were limp-wristed & effeminate, but 'Clarence' had buckets of confidence & was as 'out' as they come. Many of us wanted to be the same in our own way! BRILIANT!

Graham Chapman was part of the team and a homosexual, I doubt they meant any offence, in fact Graham often joined in the joke.
Yes, the Hettie prison sketch is so hilarious. I did go to a men's prison once when I was doing my master's degree on American prisons. The difference was, I went through the front door and not over the wall!!! Brill sketch though.

One of the things I like about the prison sketch is the audience laughter. You can tell there was a coachload of grannies at the show.

Hi doubledeckers, I am a frustrated 45 year old divorcee just like Hettie!!!! (except, perhaps I've done the business with a bloke in the past)

Have you seen the clip of her trying to get into the men's prison? If you search for 'dick emery hettie' you'll find it. That's my favourite.
