Occupation: Dreamland is an unflinchingly candid portrait of a squad of American soldiers deployed in the doomed Iraq city of Falluja during the winter of 2004. A collective study of the soldiers unfolds as they patrol an environment of low-intensity conflict creeping steadily towards catastrophe. Through the squads activities Occupation: Dreamland provides a vital glimpse into the last days of Falluja. The film documents the citys waning stability before a final series of military assaults began in the spring of 2004 that effectively destroyed it.

Filmmakers Garrett Scott and Ian Olds were given access to all operations of the Armys 82nd Airborne. They lived with the unit 24/7, giving voice to soldiers held under a strict code of authority as they cope with an ambiguous, often lethal environment. The result is a revealing, sometimes surprising look at Army life, operations and the complexity of American war in the 21st century

Your telling the men to get out who when the shit hits the fan are willing to step up for your pathetic life while you sit back and sip on a drink and bash them? 90% of these people are Innocent defending themselves and their family and their country.. kinda sad that the American government did it this way..

Respond to this video... You are serving your immediate needs without thinking about the long-term consequences of your actions. You are serving bureaucrats and officers that have their own interests ahead of the welfare of the people that served them and put them into positions of power. You are being exploited by the so-called elite of your nation. You are providing a disservice to yourself, your family and friends, your country and the world. Man-up and get out of the military.

Respond to this video... The fact that your job is more dangerous does not make me more sympathetic to your struggles because the harm and danger you impose on others is immeasurable. Which negates the sympathy that I would normally have for someone who sacrifices so much in the service of others. You are not serving your country, nor are you bettering the world.

@11Bvet Before "DECIDING" to enlist in the army...did you really think it out? Did you do the research? Did you join or did you really think it out and research what you would have to do? Did you get influenced by their propaganda and seduced by their offerings? You are not the average joe. Not chooses to murder and steal from their neighbors, which is what the citizens of foreign countries are.

@banksmc311 So true. This is the point that I tried to elaborate on. If you have a loved one or friend making bad decisions and being entrapped in a lifestyle that is destructive to that friend and anyone else, you wouldn't "support" him or her. Some might say it's tough love or whatever. But if you really care for that person, you would say: No. I can't support you. I still love you. But what you are doing is wrong. Stop it.
