j is the tenth letter of the alphabet, so when there was a general invite by Jeff Price in Newcastle to write poems on the theme of ten, I wrote a poem about Jade Goody using only the first 10 letters of the alphabet. I then used the notes on the piano, with H as B and B as B flat in the German convention, and I as the next note about G, with any rhythm of my choice, to play some piano music. Then I rewrote an older poem I'd written about Jade, in the gaps in the piano music. This video shows the notes played in each phrase of the piano music, offering a sort of commentary, or a conversation with the poem, and perhaps the music.

There's so much going on here, I really love the way the poem, the musical words, the music, the background sound, the thoughts, all interact. And I hope you'll use the piano more, it works really well for you.
