Large Gilt Brass and Pottery Clock Set
by Japy Freres

~ French / Belgian - Circa 1910 ~

~~ Excellent condition ~~

A very decorative clock set. Pottery bodies are a lovely deep red, glazed and decorated with over-glaze gilt stylised flowers in the Art Nouveau style. The pottery is mounted with gilded brass bases and candelabra. To the base of each is an impressed mark De Winter et Fils Brussels.

The dial is enamel on copper and is complete with original blued steel hands.

The French movement is of good quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum has been replaced and it runs for 8 days. Click the movie below to hear and watch the clock running!

Condition of the pottery is excellent with clean and bright finish and no damage. The over-glaze gilt decoration is worn in places and the red ground is a little faded in places. Gilded brass mounts are in good condition with some tarnish/discolouration and an occasional mark. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employee two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
