  • that "looked" painfully slow. i'm sure it really was 72 mph though.

  • Canadians freak out if you use Imperial. They pretend that they don't know that the country was laid out in imperial. all the townships and ranges are in miles. Try telling that to a city slicker who thinks they are "above" the world. Today's Canadian's have become cockey and arrogant! I say this as a Canadian who shivers when I get drilled about railroads, airlines, water ways being in Imperial.

  • Canada was also settled and founded using imperial units. They have nothing to do with the States. The US still merely uses them.

  • Actually, the Canadian rail network never metricated. Imperial units are as much a part of the Canadian identity as any other system (insecure Canadians forget that the imperial system is ENGLISH derived - NOT American).

  • @sd40u Yep, I knew that too! Again, just typed in the km/h instinctively - you know what happens when you use Imperial with Canadian non-railfans! They go nutty like their national identity is at stake.

  • y iz your detector speeking french?

  • @EeRocKK

Although, this video doesn't look like it would be doing 72 MPH. It could be one of those that does read out in Km/h?

  • @drumzac You're right. I realized my error as soon as I posted it. The detector at 7.3 on the Strathroy sub near me is also in mph. Great vid!

  • @EeRocKK

I haven't seen a standard, but some hotboxes in Canada will read MPH vs Km/h. I know the one here in Kingston reads out in MPH.

  • 72 KM/H as per your hotbox detector on a Canadian train. Nice vid.
