@skawashers . I never saw the play although a friend id. That BBC interview mentioned that the play and the film are both the work of Nick Moran. I imagine the film would have many more facets than the play although the central story would be the same- I know my friend said that there was the Gay romance in the play-Meek & Heinz which is disputed. I wish I could get a job sorting out film detail- that current BBC series"The Hour" set in 1956 is full of stupid mistakes that should not be there!

@NickRatnieks i take it you know a thing or two about Guitars. and can pick holes in most films that have a band and can work out the dates Circa to when the film is meant to happen...
One thing i would like to know. Was the Stage play of Telstar W hen it was in London. The same as the film. Or was the whole thing changed and new scripts written.

@skawashers You are right- Walk The Line- Johnny Cash- I don't pretend to know that much about him but that movie was just full of nonsense- the funny thing was that his life was full of very interesting facets- nothing needed to be made up or messed with- but it was utterly compromised. It kicked off in Germany circa 1953 with Fender guitars in a shop! You couldn't buy Fender in London until about 1960- Cliff Richard ordered that first British owned Strat direct from the USA!

@NickRatnieks But then again its a Bio picture film. And not one Bio Picture is any good. Every one ive ever seen has been dreadful. betty page, Jerry lee lewis, The Doors, 3 stooges, Numerous Charles manson Bio pics., Im just keeping my fingers crossed that the Rumors of a Jimi Hendrix Bio pic is just a Myth . As my knowledge of that guys life . i will just sitting in the dark picking great big holes in the seat and the film .

@skawashers The funny thing is on the TV interview the guy who plays Chas Hodges said the film was so true to the real story. Like any film it has to condense things and get the drama going but this film as you write really does take a few liberties. In terms of accuracy so much was wrong for no reason- the hearse was a Daimler DS420- the first one was made in 1968- Screaming Lord Sutch had a very old hearse at the time 91963)- not a brand new one- or one yet to be made!

I to watched the film again last night . As i brought it for my Girlfriends Birthday. If you dont know anything about Meek and his work . Telstar isnt the place to Start. The whole Heinz & Joe Fictitious Love affair, Angered Heinz Ex wife. And i cant blame her getting damn angry at nick moran. And alot of main song writers for Joe was missing from the film. As it wasn't all Geoffs work.. Not a good film

@skawashers- funnily I watched the film again only last night. I wrote somewhere that Alan Caddy played a Gibson 335- and not a Hofner- in the film it's a Burns. One of my best friends played that Gibson of Alan's and he also played the Gibson 175 that Joe Moretti played the solo on in Shaking All Over ( he used a cigarette lighter as a slide) which Alan must have played on as well- Johnny Kidd and the Pirates. Moretti brought the guitar into Sound City in Rupert St where my friend worked.

@NickRatnieks yeah there is a few bits of Poetic licence written into the story. Such as the John Peel writing for Melody maker. I dont think so . As im sure John was either still at Boarding school. Or was then in America. also he would have still gone under his old name of John Ravenscroft. And peel never wrote for the M.M
Saw this film last night and its f#ckin awesome!!....and the cast were brilliant!, good luck With "The Kid" Nick!!...had an extra part in this one!
