So good that this is on YT! Hey- does ANYone who lived in the NY tri-state area in the 70s recall a tv commercial (forgot the product), where a guy leans over a sleeping guy named Stanley? He says- "Stanley...Staaaanley...GET OUTTA BED!!"
What WAS that??!

grimsby was a funny, sad faced maniac. i believe he was caught cursing on air once or twice. "precursor" to sue simmons, who was funny as hell i thought, in her famous verbal bloop.

Larry Kane came to WABC in 1977 after a few years at WPVI in Philadelphia, and when he left in 1978, I believe he was replaced by Ernie Anastos.

this was my favorite News show back then

@DC322 : Grimsby also popped up in a couple of my favorite flicks: Woody Allen's BANANAS from 1971 and in GHOSTBUSTERS from 1984. He was like the hardboiled newsman from Central Casting except he really was a newsman.
Nice hair for 70's

Roger Grimsby was the most aptly named newscaster who ever lived. The man almost never cracked a smile. And I also liked John Johnson, or as he pronounced it, "Jawn Jawnson."
