Thanks for that. I gues its is also the size, length and shape of the Dart blades - because I've never heard that distinctive 'yeowll' response to reduced power in other turbopropos, especially more modern ones. Or perhaps its there but just quieter on them.
Because the propeller blades change pitch when the engine power is adjusted. You hear the sound when the power is being reduced and the pitch of the propeller blades fines off.
Great sound. I used to fly in F27s in Australia as a boy. Can anyone explain why the engines 'yeoowll' in that distinctive way at times when the aircraft is taxying and turning?
So do I. F27, Dart Herald, Viscount, Argosy or YS11. I love the whine.

yeah F27 and Hs748 has the best turboprop engine sound! 5 stars! I just love to hear that planes on the night..Rolls Royce Dart<3!!
